Is there Poo Bacteria in Iced Drinks at Mcd, KFC & Burger King?

The talks concerning fecal matter or urination are sufficient in themselves to stop someone from eating their food. But in the United Kingdom, this has gone much further than this. The drinks at three of the world’s biggest food chains McDonald’s, Burger King and KFC are found to be contaminated with fecal matter.


How it got discovered?


An investigation was carried out by the investigators from the BBC consumer show “Watchdog”. They took 10 samples each from KFC, Burger King, and McDonald’s and tested them for the traces of “fecal coliform” which is responsible for a number of diseases.

The report said that three samples from McDonald’s drinks, six from Burger King’s and seven from KFC’s were tested positive for the presence of “Coliforms”. Further four Burger King’s and five KFC’s sample were said to have significant levels of Coliforms.

Tom Humphrey, professor of bacteriology and food safety, said that it was pleasing that Escherichia coli (E. coli), the bacterium that is the most accurate and reliable indicator of fecal contamination, was not found in any ice samples from McDonald’s restaurants.

KFC and Burger King avoiding the eyes


On being contacted by CNBC, neither KFC nor Burger King was immediately available. KFC later responded by saying that they were shocked and disappointed since they have strict procedures for the handling of ice.

Burger King responded by saying that cleanliness and hygiene are a top priority for the Burger King brand and they are looking into the matter.
